(Main Camera)
Technology is always getting better & better & I don't see the
need for Broadcast quality cameras, alot of it is complete Overkill!
My Main Camera is a Sony CX-450, it is a consumer camera but has some amazing features.
The Newest way to record video is direct to digital media
(high speed SD cards known as sdxc)
Video is measured in Mbps (mega-bits-per-second)...
previous models (upto 2014/15) recorded in a format known as
"HDAVC"...this is capped and limited to 28Mbps. Although still
good, and capable of recording in 1080p HD. The prosumer &
much more expensive cameras still had the edge.

Alot of other brands still record this way. so I picked my camera
carefully.

For comparison a dvd's bitrate is between 4 and 9mbps

My main camera records in "Sonys XAVCS" Format, and can
record at 50Mbps which is double what an avchd mp4 allows for
giving a better video quality. (a high speed 64gb card holds
around 2hours, 40 minutes at this bitrate)

This camera is also unique in that I has a Mic input and
headphone monitoring jack, which allows me to connect a Rode
Mic, allowing for superior sound.
(2nd camera) - Also a Sony CX450
This is more for wide angled shots/ cut aways and keeps the flow of the video more intresting. Used for the ceromony & key events, I usually have this set up at the back of the church to the side on 1st dance. Its good to have a 2nd angle incase someone gets in the way of a shot.
For this I just use a Highend Smartphone mounted on its own tripod for a rock solid image
(see Example videos from a phone the quality is austounding)
This also allows me to keep things lightweight, unintrusive and simple.

(3rd camera) - Sony CX405

Back-up camera

(Audio/Sound)

The cameras Mic is actually very good for what it is and records in an uncompressed audio 48khz/16bit
(better than CD). on the main camera an external Rode mic is used.
I have an additional sound recorder to allow better quality audio during Vows/ Speeches ect...
I use the Zoom H1 Professional Audio recorder & a pro Lav Mic (tiny clip on mic) for these.
I usually have these set at the top quality of 96khz/24bit Wav (way higher than CD)
to have the best quality availiable during editing. (a 16gb card can record over 7 hours of sound)
A full wedding day would amount to around 125gb - 150gb of raw data.

The Tech side of things...

USB Tech!

I like to keep compression to a minimum and keep quality as high as possible.

For that a 32gb stick is used.

For compatibility they are formatted to Fat32, meaning they will work on All
TV's with a USB port, the only limitation is individual file sizes (4gb)

To get around this Each "scene" is in its own file or upto 15 minutes at a time, and then numbered in order.
This should allow the TV play them one after the other as if it is one video.

A back-up is provided on a BD-R (Blu-ray disk) containing a copy of the videos
on the USB. Blu ray disks hold around 25gb of data, so are good for storage and back-ups. (a standard dvd-r holds around 4.7gb of data),

I also use these disks to back-up all the original files recorded on the camera(s)
around 80 - 150gb.
With your back up copy, my back up copy + origional files a typical project can use between 8 - 10 disks, each holding upto 25gb of data.

The disks only cost about 50p each and works out cheaper and safer for long term storage rather than leaving perminently on a harddrive.
